 If we were to join all the geographical points that make up Giulia we would obtain similar points to the composition of Ritual, the latest album presented by the multidisciplinary artist.
Taking as a starting point a reflection on the wounds caused by the Modern thought of expansion, extraction and division of knowledge in disciplines through her own family experience of migration, Venerandi traces a circle with her album in which she explores ways of understanding the world that have always existed but have remained on the margins of the today's hegemony. Conceived as a search for own rituals, the album explores sounds that subvert the separation between acoustic and electronic to give way to the circular experimentation of stringed instruments, voice and digital software. Uninterested in creating a dichotomy between acoustic-electronic, human-nature, nature-culture, Venerandi plays with the tools at hand as she travels her own journey back to Argentina from Madrid.

With Croatian and Italian roots, her relatives left Europe during the Second World War, in one of the turning points that put an end to Modernity by serving as a mirror of the belligerent and extractivist dynamics it had been accumulating for decades. Subsequent generations experienced again the uprooting of migration as they fled from Argentina to Madrid in the 1980s. This is the city where the artist was born and the one she has left in the last year, taking the opposite route and settling in Buenos Aires, where she currently develops her artistic practice. In a constant feeling of both farewell and arriving a places known to her not through her own eyes but through the experiences of past generations who traced the same migration routes, Venerandi joins dots without a pentagram, composing Ritual as another reflection of her practice as a textile and space designer and composer. Without compartmentalising knowledge into disciplines, her understanding of geography, body and sound is transversal, they are points that generate the constellation we encounter in Ritual.
